Mike and I first met when I started working with him at Oculus Info Inc in October 2005. He was a crotchety bachelor and I, an unhappily married girl. My first impression of him was... "This guy knows a lot about The Simpsons!". It's what made him stand out from the crowd, to me. As Mike likes to say "See! All those countless hours spent watching The Simpson's weren't wasted!"
It was after one work evening, drinking at the local watering hole Betty's, that I let slip the poetic words "I like you". We held hands on the way to the subway that evening. He turned me down the next day (I'll never let him live that down) for good reasons, as he was thinking about moving back to Ottawa and didn't want to start something if he would be leaving. After a talk with his friend Spencer (our Best Man), he realized perhaps this wasn't the best move! So that very same evening Mike tried to contact me. It wasn't until the next day that he told me that perhaps he was wrong, and that a date was a good idea. We were already going to the movies to see The Simpson's (I told him I wanted to see it with him and he didn't catch on that perhaps it was cause I liked him!!!.) So The Simpson's Movie was our official First Date, how fitting! That was on September 2nd, 2007.
We have been inseparable since. It's not often that two people come together who fit so perfectly, that they truly feel they were meant to be. This is how we feel. We couldn't be happier with each other, and every day is just as loving and joyous as the next. No longer is he crotchety Mike. I wouldn't have guessed that inside him was hiding the most loving, sweet, sappy person I have ever had the pleasure of being with. I count myself very lucky to have him. I was single, with a child, and thought I would stay that way for a while. Now I'm with someone who loves me, and my son more than I could have ever imagined. I just hope that every day I make him happy as he makes us. I truly believe that we shall live Happily Ever After...
